Description | The scope of this project is to provide a clear process for soliciting innovative ideas and approaches relative to the design, development, publication, and implementation of HL7 standards. The Innovations process will be defined and managed by the TSC with input from the HL7 Board. The innovations project will monitor the health of HL7's innovation management - this may be done by looking at practice in comparable organisations, feedback from members and stakeholders, and in other ways The process is intended to provide a regular means for submission of concepts to address an issue or problem, timely review and assessment, and disposition or identification of next steps. The project will: - Publish a process for the solicitation and assessment of innovative concepts - Schedule one or more quarters each working group session devoted to the review of innovative concepts. - Development of a tracking process and document or wiki page to document the development progress or pilot programs that result from innovative concept presentations or demonstrations. - Obtain feedback from members and stakeholders and adjust process as necessary |

Project Need | Work Groups routinely encounter issues and problems related to the development and implementation of HL7 standards. Often the work groups develop innovative approaches to address these issues. There is no routine process to share these concepts across the organization. Additionally there are innovative approaches that are used by organizations that regularly interface with HL7. By having a defined innovations process, HL7 will provide a forum for sharing, assessing and adopting (if appropriate) these concepts. |
