Description | The Helios FHIR Accelerator is exploring the application of the Bulk FHIR IG to a public health use case of allowing authorized users to access the immunization of history of patients associated with the user. This project is expected to develop guidance for applying the Bulk FHIR IG approach to this use case. Further refinement of profiles and resources may be necessary. Balloted and published material will likely take the form of a FHIR IG, however, other formats such as a whitepaper may be considered depending on the nature of the guidance necessary. Additional FHIR IGs such as the Da Vinci Member Attribution List (ATR) standard may also be considered for use during implementation. |

Project Need | By design, the Bulk Data Access FHIR IG is a relative generic approach to accessing FHIR formatted data in bulk. We will be exploring the application of this approach to a specific public health use case such as sharing consolidated immunization data held by public health systems so that we can promote consistency across immunization programs in how they make this data available. We also want to provide guidance about considerations implementers should keep in mind as they develop the FHIR infrastructure to support bulk data access. |
