Description | The latest information on this project can be found at:
https://confluence.hl7.org/display/CIC/Breast+Cancer+Modeling+and+FHIR+Profile+Development+Proposal Work with a diverse community of clinical subject matter experts (Physicians, Nurses and Researchers) to collaboratively define logical models relevant to diagnosis, Treatment and Research for Breast Cancer. Models will be compatible with emerging HL7 interoperability standards. CIMI, FHIR and CQL compatibility are to be the initial priority for implementation. FHIR Profiles, FHIR Extensions and Implementation Guides will be the final deliverable work-products. |

Project Need | Detailed clinical models and FHIR Profiles are required to support reliable and consistent capture and exchange of interoperable medical records. Clinical Decision Support, Clinical Quality Metrics, Evidence-based and Precision Medicine all require a standardized specification for computable data-elements (aka Clinical Models). This project will define, review and ballot those required specifications and publish them in all appropriate formats. |

Common Names / Keywords/ Aliases | Cancer Interoperability Group Cancer Diagnosis, Treatment and Research (Cancer-DTR) |
Lineage | Numerous Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines have been established in the US and internationally. BiRads codes being of particular importance. These projects and guidelines are well established and broadly adoptions, so these efforts will be our guide during this process. |

Misc Notes | 2021 March Update: MPeters: Based on our discussion, there are 2 specifications: - Breast Cancer Staging (called US Breast Cancer in Jira FHIR Specification Feedback) - Breast Cancer Radiology Reporting (called US Breast Cancer Radiology Reporting in Jira FHIR Specification Feedback) Both of these IGs were balloted under Project ID 1363. The Breast Cancer Staging IG was balloted twice, but you believe that IG should not be published due to concerns raise by AJCC. You’ll need to work with HL7 HQ to figure out what needs to be done to resolve this issue. The September 2019 Ballot comments were imported to the incorrect specification in Jira - they are currently in the US Breast Cancer Specification but should be in the US Breast Cancer Radiology Reporting Specification. I will have the comments (about 84) moved to the correct specification in Jira and will let you know when this is complete. You need to work with CIC and the Project Management Office (Dave Hamill copied on this email) to determine what can be done about the Breast Cancer Staging IG. Additional update from MPeters: we have resolved the issues with the Breast Cancer Specifications. - All of the ballot comments from Sept 2019 have now been moved to the Breast Cancer Radiology Reporting Specification. - 2 issues that were duplicated and attributed to the wrong people have been deleted: - FHIR-25169 - FHIR-25166 - US Breast Cancer Specification in Jira has been re-named to 'US Breast Cancer Staging' and will not show up in the list of specs that you can submit issues against as I understand that all work is now focused on the Radiology Reporting Specification. External Vocabularies: Submission for review by US Regulatory groups by end of 2018 Update from Richard Esmond The May 2018 and Sept 2018 Ballots need to be renamed - Currently they are named 'Breast-Cancer' - Both the May 2018 and Sept 2018 need to be renamed 'Breast-Cancer Staging' Two new IG Proposals need to be submitted - A replacement IG Proposal for o... |
