Altarum Institute is seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic Software Developer to work alongside a great team of Software Developers in our Ann Arbor, MI headquarters. You must enjoy all phases of the software development process. This is a small team so it’s important that you can contribute in all areas. During your career at Altarum, you will have the opportunity to make important contributions to multiple healthcare projects such as java based web applications for public health, clinical decision support tools, EHR integrations, and mobile applications.
Initially, you will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining a state-wide communicable disease surveillance system that complies with Public Health Information Network (PHIN) requirements issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This surveillance system allows local health departments and healthcare organizations to report disease cases through a web-interface, and allows access to case-count reports and geo-mapping tools to support the assessment of potential epidemics and disease outbreaks. You’re first project will be writing the code and creating the routes that allow different health systems to communicate effectively.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include: • Interface Development o Work with local, State and National labs to bring Electronic Lab Reports into Michigan Public Health Systems. o Work with CDC messaging guides to develop out-going messages. o Create and maintain Rhapsody routes. o Monitor existing production messaging systems. o Work with Health Information Exchanges to bring data into Michigan Public Health Systems. o Install and maintain message system software. • Maintain and enhance several Michigan Public Health Systems. This includes: o Requirements gathering o System design o Implementation o Testing o Maintenance
