DESCRIPTION

The Patient Administration standard defines the requirements and specifications to support the interoperability among clinical and non-clinical systems regarding patient encounters and administrative registries.

DEVELOPMENT BACKGROUND

Patient Administration, also known as Admit, Discharge and Transfer (ADT), supports many of the core administrative functions in healthcare such as person and patient registration and encounter management. Information is entered into a Patient or Person Registry or into a Patient Administration system, and then passed to other systems (e.g., other registries, clinical, ancillary and financial systems).
