HL7 Implementation Guide for CDA® Release 2 - Level 3: Healthcare Associated Infection Reports, Release 2 - US Realm
DESCRIPTION

DEVELOPMENT BACKGROUND
This implementation guide was the first use of the CDA R2 for public health reporting. Following an implementation pilot in July 2007, the first release was published in 2008. The pilot was reviewed by the Structured Documents Working Group (SDWG), which is the sponsor of this guide within HL7; the stakeholders in HAI exchange; the NHSN, which is the overall sponsor of the activity; and the software vendors whose systems today use the specification for NHSN reporting. Subsequent development cycles have extended the specification to additional report types, following the same review processes.
