Certification Test Policies - Paper and Pencil Exam Delivery

Paper and Pencil Exams are offered at each Implementation Workshop (March, July, November) and Working Group Meeting (January, May, September). Attendance at the event is not required; one may register to take the test only. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged; however, walk-ons are accepted.

Refunds, No Show, Rescheduling

Prepaid registrants who cancel prior to the early bird deadline for Working Group Meetings and Implementation Workshops will receive a full refund minus a $50 processing fee. After the early bird deadline, no refunds will be given, including for registered individuals not appearing for the exam. Paper and pencil exams may not be rescheduled.

Check-in at Registration

Test-takers are required to provide a photo ID upon check-in with the Registration staff. All test-takers are required to sign a log-in sheet for signature verification. Proctors will provide any testing aids such as pencils and scratch paper.

Notification of Results

Test results shall be maintained by HL7 at the HL7 Headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. Participants will be notified by e-mail of their results (Pass/Fail, and Score) within two (2) weeks of the Working Group Meeting or Implementation Workshops.

NOTE: In order to protect the integrity of the test(s), the answer sheets will NOT be returned to the student, nor will they be informed of which questions they got wrong.

Retakes: You may retake the exam 60 days after the date of your last exam.
