The Clinical Document Architecture (CDA®) is HL7's primary standard for representing structured clinical documentation on patients for the purposes of health information exchange.
CDA is most commonly known for its applications in information exchange for the continuum of care via the Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) implementation guide and for the reporting of electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs) via its Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA) implementation guide. Both of these CDA implementation guides are required to be used for the CMS Promoting Interoperability Programs.
